FUNCTION

To render maintenance or repair service to the church building, making it functional, comfortable and visually attractive to members of the body and guests. This ministry does not take care of the grounds. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Painting
Making Necessary Repairs
Carpet Cleaning
Baptistry Upkeep
Changing Light Bulbs
Setting Up Tables and Chairs
Interior Decorating - Year-Round and for Special Events
Janitorial Duties
Library Upkeep
Keeping Cleaning Supplies in Stock

Cooking Ministry

FUNCTION

To provide food for special gatherings or events, as requested by other ministries or church staff, and cleanup after those events. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Purchasing of supplies.
Preparation and cleanup for Wednesday night meals, funeral dinners, special events and VBS.

Education Ministry

FUNCTION

Coordinating and participating in a Christian education program that will encourage, teach and grow our members in Christ, through events, Sunday School, Youth Group, etc. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Planning events for your group.
Input in curriculum selection.
Making sure support supplies are available -- pens, paper, glue, etc.

Encouragement Ministry

FUNCTION

To reassure, strengthen and affirm those who are discouraged or wavering in their faith. Use different means and methods to give encouragement (send cards, flowers or a note, give an encouraging word, pray…). Methods of encouragement are left open to the creativity of the ministry and the leading of the spirit.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Maintain a current address and phone number list.
Actively approach people and engage in conversation to determine needs.
Send or speak words of encouragement to those who are hurting.
Order or deliver flowers to those who are ill or in the hospital.
Follow up with a visit or phone call.
Coordinate with shepherding ministry.

FUNCTION

To be good stewards of the church’s finances. To work with all other ministries on developing and maintaining a budget.

Greeter Ministry

FUNCTION

To present a warm and welcoming atmosphere to church members and guests upon arriving to any church function (worship services, special events, dinners, etc). To answer questions and direct (or lead) guests to appropriate activities and areas.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Welcome ALL arrivals to events.
Distribute programs at services or other events.
Provide information relating to church activities.
Escort or usher people when you see a need or when requested.
Present a joyful first impression -- smile!
Arrive early.
Be visible.
Be alert to guests and their needs.
Answer questions of guests or new members.
Introduce yourself and others to new members.

Grounds Ministry

FUNCTION

To maintain and present attractive grounds to our members and guests upon arrival.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Keep lawn mowed and trimmed.
Maintain attractiveness of outdoor sign.
Care for and cultivate flowers, trees and shrubbery.
Maintain parking lot -- fill in low spots and ruts.

QUALIFICATIONS/GIFTS/TALENTS REQUIRED 

The gifts needed for this ministry include:

Ability to see a need and remedy it without direct supervision.
Eye for plant attractiveness and neatness.
Love of outdoor work.
 
  
History Ministry

FUNCTION

To keep an accurate record of the church’s history through pictures, documents, newspaper articles, radio announcements, videos or other creative means. To capture special events in the life of the church.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Compile a written record of church history.
Update records as needed.
Provide info for special events.
Apprise worship leader or others of upcoming anniversaries or special events.

Missions Ministry

FUNCTION

To prayerfully consider and determine what missions Christ's Church will support financially and to determine the amount of the support.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Review requests for support.

  • Develop scholarship guidelines.

  • Develop qualification standards.

  • Prepare annual budget.

  • Communicate with Leadership Team.

  • Communicate with congregation regarding mission trip opportunities.

  • Follow-up with individuals or groups requesting support.

To ensure efficiency and organization of church offices, including the administration of resources, upkeep of supplies and ability to assist when needed.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ensure Availability of Adequate Supplies

FUNCTION

To plan, organize and recruit people to provide outreach to the community through events and promotions.  This outreach is targeted to the unchurched community.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Design and distribution of informational/evangelistic mailings, advertisements, etc.

  • Seeking and seizing of opportunities to make our church more visible in the Effingham  area; i.e., parades, festivals, etc.

  • Promotion of special events such as the Easter Service, Friend Day, VBS, etc. through every media possible, including newspaper, radio and direct mail.

  • Improvement of visitor impressions through suggested building alterations, bulletins, etc.

Prayer Ministry

FUNCTION

To offer intercessory prayer for the body, our leaders, believers and unbelievers, and those who specifically request prayer.  To lead our church in prayer and fasting, to encourage members to pray and to teach members how to be more effective in prayer.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinate special times of prayer and fasting.

  • Encourage others to pray and to develop their personal prayer lives.

  • Coordinate times of teaching/small groups.

  • Be confidential when needed; communicate prayer needs when needed.

Service Ministry

FUNCTION

To provide service of practical and necessary tasks which support the body of Christ, such as communion preparation.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Coordinate communion preparation.
Coordinate collection of Sunday School attendance books.
Document supplies that are needed.
Keep record of expenditures.
Perform “gopher” service during church body activities.

Shepherding Ministry

FUNCTION

To guide, care for and nurture individuals or groups in the body of Christ as they grow in their faith or as they go through trials. Examples of shepherding include hospital visits and home visits. 

The Shepherding Ministry and Encouragement Ministry will work hand in hand. The difference is the amount of involvement. Shepherding is on a personal level. The Encouragement Ministry may assist in shepherding by providing encouragement. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Regular home visits to all members.
Home visits to meet the needs of those hurting (physically or emotionally).
Hospital visits.
Give advice and listen to the needs of the body.

Small Group Ministry

FUNCTION

To provide a loving, caring atmosphere to minister to those inside and outside the Body of Christ, as well as to disciple and teach those in the Body of Christ and build relationships.

A small group is a group of 6 to 10 people who gather together on a regular basis (usually weekly) to study God's Word, share with one another and pray for the needs of those inside and outside of the church. 

The goals of this ministry include, but are not limited to, the following:

Help members grow in their walk with Christ through Bible study.
Form relationships with others for the purpose of fellowship and mutual 
      encouragement.
Pray for the needs of the Church and those outside of the Church.
Reach out to those outside the Church by bringing them in to the group.

FUNCTION

  • To lead young people to the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

  • Assist them in developing a personal relationship with the Creator, Savior and Sustainer through teaching, worship, service, fellowship and outreach.

  • Teaching

FUNCTION

To maintain & repair church vehicles as needed. To maintain a van schedule and distribute keys to the appropriate people.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Perform routine maintenance of church vehicles.
Keep license and insurance up-to-date.
Keep a master schedule of vehicle use.
Perform major repairs, if qualified, or arrange for qualified repair.
Exercise due discretion in limiting or extending vehicle use.
Record expenditures.

FUNCTION

To create an atmosphere of worship, prayer and teaching at church services and other special events, through the creative arts of music and drama. This ministry also includes everything that makes worship successful, such as running the sound system, building sets, making costumes, directing, etc.

**Because this ministry is highly visible and influential, high standards of excellence should be set.**

DRAMA

The Drama Ministry uses sermon topics and outreach to communicate the many facets of life in Christ, enhance sermons and reach the unchurched. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Searching for Suitable Sketches
Rehearsing
Managing Props and Costumes
Organizing Props and Sketch Books
Training Continually through Conferences and Workshops
Performing Sketches in Other Areas of the Community (i.e., plays, nursing homes, festivals, special events, ...)

QUALIFICATIONS/GIFTS/TALENTS REQUIRED FOR DRAMA 

The gifts needed for this ministry include:
